About Us

Founder and President

Spanish Maven was founded by Marisa Ramirez after she experienced learning English as a second language upon relocating to New York. Despite working in a bilingual environment, she faced the challenge of quickly acclimating to using English daily professionally and personally. Through her own experience, she created a methodology that makes learning a foreign language accessible in a way that breaks the “one size fits all” approach. Additionally, her professional background has allowed her to gain deep expertise in translating  English language documents   into Spanish language contextually and culturally.

Prior to launching Spanish Maven, Marisa spent many years in finance and banking leading teams in both Argentina and New York City with JP Morgan Chase, HSBC Bank Corporate, IBM to name a few. She holds licenses Series 6, Series 63 and Health & Life insurance (FINRA), along with business degrees in both Argentina and the U.S. (Baruch in NYC) and is getting her degree from Columbia Business School. She is currently teaching Spanish at Columbia University (Community Impact Program) and working as a volunteer for "The Hope GALA", fundraising organization for children with cancer.
